The encouragement and support we have received from everyone is much appreciated. Thanks also to Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), Outrigger on the Beach at Waikiki, the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation and Malama Pono. The beach community has continually been ready, willing and able to help us in any way they could. We would arrive at the beach and they would always be there to help us. They would lug coolers stuffed with cameras and equipment, they took time out of their workday to be interviewed, sometimes without notice. They have even babysat our equipment while we’d go catch a wave. We are grateful.
It's been a whirlwind year, meeting and interviewing the Beach Boys of Waikiki, the old guard as well as the new comers. One thing holds true as we listen to their stories from one generation to another, they all contribute to the magic of Waikiki. Beach Boys share a love for the ocean and all who make it part of their life. When we sit and listen to them “talk story”, they all have a twinkle in their eye. We appreciate and thank them for trusting us with their stories, we have always embraced the idea that this was their film and we are just the facilitators.
Please continue to visit our freshly designed website for news, future screenings, and availability of Waikiki: Riding the Waves of Change.
